Weather Today: Chennai received a much-awaited rain on Wednesday, breaking the spell of heatwave-like situation. Residents have welcomed the rains as it is likely to bring down the rising temperature in the city. Chennai and its nearby districts in Tamil Nadu are expected to see more rain as the day progresses. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be light to moderate rain today. While the maximum temperature was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature was at 27 degrees.
Residents should know that the city will continue to see rain till April 21, said the IMD.

Chennai is currently experiencing a spell of pleasant weather, with light rain and cloudy skies expected to continue until the 19th of April. From the 16th to the 19th, the city will see generally cloudy skies accompanied by light rainfall, offering some relief from the summer heat. Temperatures during this period will range between 27°C to 28°C for the minimum and 36°C to 37°C for the maximum.
On the 20th of April, the weather is expected to shift slightly, with partly cloudy skies and no rain predicted. However, on the 21st, rain is set to return, likely providing another round of cooling respite. The forecast then suggests a return to partly cloudy conditions on the 22nd. Throughout the week, daytime temperatures will hover around 36°C to 37°C, while nights will remain warm with minimums around 28°C.
