Team India Gears Up for a Packed 2025-26 Season with Key Series and Tournaments Ahead | Loktej Sports News

Mumbai, April 15 — The Indian cricket team is heading into a hectic and decisive schedule following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with a focus on both red-ball and white-ball formats in the 2025-26 season.

The upcoming cricket calendar begins with a high-profile five-match Test series against England, marking the start of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. Having missed out on qualifying for the current WTC final, India will be keen to begin the new campaign on a strong note. The team will also aim to reclaim the prestigious Pataudi Trophy, which they narrowly lost in the 2021-22 series. This red-ball series could also signal a new era for Indian Test cricket, potentially featuring a change in captaincy following a disappointing 2024-25 season.

In the white-ball format, emphasis will shift toward T20 Internationals, especially with the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup on the horizon. India, as co-hosts along with Sri Lanka, will be preparing to defend their title on home soil. As per agency report, the next 12 months will see India play nine Tests and 12 ODIs, along with 18 T20 Internationals, including matches in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.

India’s red-ball journey resumes with the England Test series, scheduled between June 21 and August 4, 2025. Following that, in August, India will travel to Bangladesh for a bilateral series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is.

The Asia Cup is slated for September 2025, offering another platform for India to refine their squad for the global stage. In October, the West Indies will tour India for a two-match Test series.

Subsequently, Team India will embark on a challenging tour of Australia from October to November 2025, which includes three ODIs and a five-match T20I series. The year will conclude with fixtures against South Africa and New Zealand, rounding off what promises to be an action-packed season.

With multiple formats, leadership changes, and world titles at stake, Indian cricket fans can expect a thrilling year of high-stakes matches and strategic team building.
