Red Sox at Rays lineups for April 14, 2025

The Red Sox are visiting the Rays in unfamiliar surroundings on Monday.

After Tropicana Field’s roof was shredded in October, Tampa Bay is hosting home games this season at Tampa’s Steinbrenner Field, the spring training home of the Yankees.

Red Sox righthander Tanner Houck will take the ball in front of around 10,000 fans on Monday, still seeking his first win of the season.

The Rays will turn to righthander Shane Baz, who has allowed just two earned runs over 13 innings through his first two starts of the season.

Here’s a preview.

Pitching: RHP Tanner Houck (0-1, 4.41 ERA)

RAYS (7-8): TBA

Stat of the day: The Red Sox have lost five of their last seven after a five-game win streak.

Notes: Garrett Crochet took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the White Sox Sunday, while Trevor Story finished with three hits, including his third home run of the season. “Today was a big day for us, just to get a ‘W’ and move on,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. “We needed to end a losing streak and [Crochet] pitched a great game and we played a lot better.” … Houck has made eight career appearances (six starts) against Tampa Bay, posting a 1-4 record and a 4.18 ERA. … In two career starts against Boston (both in 2024), Baz is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA. … The Red Sox won’t meet the Rays again until June 9, when they host Tampa Bay for a three-game set.
