With the news that Diamond Dallas Page would induct Lex Luger into the WWE Hall of Fame, the reason Sting isn’t involved has been revealed.
Lex Luger had previously hoped that both Diamond Dallas Page and Sting would induct him into the Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025.
Ahead of the induction ceremony on April 19, the reason why Sting isn’t involved has now been revealed.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer hasn’t heard anything to indicate that Tony Khan was asked by anyone in WWE if a deal could be made for the services of Sting.
Meltzer went onto note that this would indicate that it was a “Nick Khan decision”, as WWE would’ve reached out to AEW if they wanted Sting for the ceremony.
This appears to be accurate as of two weeks ago, according to Meltzer, who went on to say that, late changes aside, no deal was either asked for or negotiated.
Tony Khan was asked about Sting, who is under a AEW contract, being made available for the WWE Hall of Fame.
Speaking during the AEW Dynasty media scrum, Khan stated that his focus was on his own product and that being on hand for the upcoming induction ceremony hadn’t been brought up in conversations with Sting.
