The Los Angeles Dodgers, led by manager Dave Roberts, began the 2025 season off on an impressive note, going 8-0, which marked the best start for a defending World Series champion in MLB history.
However, they’ve since cooled off lost six of the last nine games, losing three-straight series to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Washington Nationals and the Chicago Cubs, going 1-2 in all three.

They now sit with an 11-6 record and in third place in the NL West, behind the San Diego Padres (13.3) and the San Francisco Giants (11-4).
Despite their very clear struggles, the most recent power rankings from MLB.com, which was selected by a panel of experts still has the Dodgers at No. 1.
Many fans have now taken to social media to express their frustrations and question how Los Angeles can still hold the top spot and even throwing accusations of favoritism.
“Dodgers could lose every single game over a week and y’all would still put them at number one,” said one comment.
“So what do the dodgers have to do lose 10 in a row to fall out of the number 1 spot?” said another.

“I guess having the highest payroll, even if you lose 6/9 of your last games, means you’re still the highest power ranked team…” a third continued.
A fourth stated, “No way the Dodgers are still one after getting whooped at home by Chicago.”
“Starting to think the “panel of experts” are just dodger fans who ignore losses,” a fifth added.
“In 3rd place in the division but #1 in the power rankings make it make sense,” said another.

Of course, the Dodgers do have a chance to get back on track, as they’re set to host the Colorado Rockies, who have have an MLB worst 3-12 record, for a three-game series starting on Monday.
