Matt Damon looks like he’s thriving as he takes a break from filming The Odyssey.
On Friday, April 11, Damon, 54, was seen enjoying some time off on a yacht off the coast of Italy — and showing off a notably ripped physique — roughly two months after Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming movie released its first image of Damon as the Greek mythical hero Odysseus.
In photos published by Page Six, Damon lounged on the yacht, sipped on a beer and performed a backflip off the side of the boat into the ocean during his time away from filming director Nolan’s next movie. Damon was previously spotted on the film’s set on March 25, when he filmed scenes shirtless and showed off his impressive abs on set in Favignana, Italy. His costar Zendaya was also seen in costume and on location that day as the pair filmed scenes for The Odyssey, based on the Ancient Greek epic poem attributed to the poet Homer.

Holland, 28, was photographed spending time on the movie’s set on March 26, when he wore a full chest plate and metal armor over his body as he and other crew members stood near what appeared to be an antiquity-style Greek trireme sitting in the water. Holland’s appearance on the movie’s set came just one day after Damon and Zendaya were last photographed filming on location.

Nolan’s new movie The Odyssey comes on the heels of his Academy Award winning 2023 effort Oppenheimer. Damon costarred in Oppenheimer as Leslie Groves, a U.S. Army officer charged with overseeing J. Robert Oppenheimer’s work on the Manhattan project and the development of the atomic bomb during World War II.
Since then, Damon has appeared in movies like Drive-Away Dolls, IF, and The Instigators. He and his longtime friend and collaborator Ben Affleck are expected to costar in their Netflix movie RIP before The Odyssey releases in theaters July 17, 2026.
