The Kansas City Current will head on the road to San Diego, California, in Week 4 of the NWSL regular season to face the San Diego Wave FC at Snapdragon Stadium. The Current are one of two teams, joining the Orlando Pride, who have not lost or drawn a game this season. However, with just a seven-goal differential, it is two goals below the Pride in the standings at No. 2 in the league. In the first game of the season, they beat the Portland Thorns 3-1. Temwa Chawinga, Michelle Cooper, and Debinha scored the three goals in the season-opening win.

They went on to shut out Washington in the team’s second game 2-0 on the back of a converted penalty from Lo’eau LaBonta and a stoppage-time goal from Chawinga. The same three goal scorers that produced the three goals in the opening win, scored again in the team’s last win 3-0 in a shutout against Utah. It was Chawinga’s third of the season.
The Wave are 1-1-1 through their three games this season. With four points on the table, they are tied with four other teams all in the same position. However, with a zero-goal differential, they are ahead of one of those teams, while all the others also hold the same differential. Their only loss of the season came in their last game at the end of March against the Orlando Pride 2-1.
They drew the first game of the season against Angel City 1-1 with their only goal from Gia Corely in the fifth minute of the game. They allowed the game-tying goal in the 54th minute. San Diego won their only game of the season against Utah 3-2 in the second week. María Sánchez, Adriana Leon, and Corley scored in the win.
