The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, based on Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel, will captivate audiences at Milton Keynes Theatre in September.
The musical has been delighting London audiences since November 2024, and will be at The Other Palace until August 31, 2025.
Now, fans across the country will be treated to the epic tale.
Premiering off-Broadway in 2014, the production received outstanding reviews, leading to two US tours, another off-Broadway run in 2017, and a 16-week limited run on Broadway in 2019.
The New York City adventure centres on Percy Jackson, a teenager who discovers he is the half-blood son of the Greek god Poseidon.
His life takes an unexpected turn as he enters a universe larger than he’d ever imagined, with powers he cannot control and a destiny he did not seek.
Faced with mythical monsters, Percy and his friends embark on a journey to redefine heroism, with the world’s future hanging in the balance.
The show’s UK arrival has been met with considerable excitement, reflecting the widespread appeal of Riordan’s creation, which has sold over 180 million copies worldwide.
Percy Jackson’s saga has also been adapted into films and a popular Disney+ series.
Producer Paul Taylor-Mills shared, “We’re thrilled to bring Percy Jackson’s epic journey to more UK audiences following the success we’ve had in London.
“This show is full of energy, humour, and heart—whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the world of Camp Half-Blood, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure.”
The musical adaptation, developed by Joe Tracz (Be More Chill) and featuring music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki (Monstersongs), is directed and choreographed by Lizzi Gee (Groundhog Day).
Casting details for the forthcoming tour have yet to be released.
The Times described it as ‘a bolt of stage magic,’ while The Guardian acknowledged the show’s ‘catchy songs, original choreography and a quirky spirit.’
The cast will bring their infectious energy to Milton Keynes Theatre from Wednesday to Sunday September 3 to 7, delivering a whirlwind of Greek mythological adventure.
Theatregoers can anticipate a gripping, fast-paced narrative with thrilling performances.
This eagerly awaited tour, starting just after summer, promises to be a treat for theatre lovers and Percy Jackson fans alike.
The show will also raise the curtain for a new wave of Percy aficionados.
