Environment Canada is forecasting a mainly sunny start to the long weekend, but with increasing cloudiness late in the afternoon. Today’s temperature is projected to reach 15C; higher inland, where the mercury could reach 20C.

1. Surrey Police drones launch at large Vaisakhi parade Saturday

The goal of the department’s Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) program is to “support investigations, assist members of the public, manage public order and emergency events.”

2. Surrey parents push back against school district’s hybrid learning plan

While so far optional and with plans to keep it optional, Surrey school district will be piloting hybrid learning – a mix of in-person and online learning – for secondary students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 beginning next year.

3. Expanded transit services could be coming to Cloverdale, Surrey

TransLink is planning to increase and expand transit services in Surrey, if their new funding package passes at the end of the month.
