The college football transfer portal will officially open on Wednesday, which means many athletes will be entering their names in hopes of finding a new program to call home.
One team that has been hit hard is the Syracuse Orange, who are coming off a great season under first-year head coach Fran Brown, going 10-3 overall, 5-3 in ACC matchups and winning the Holiday Bowl, their first bowl victory since 2018.

Unfortunately, for them, though, they’ve now suffered their 13th transfer portal departure on Tuesday, per On3, coming in the form of wide receiver Trebor Pena, who has been with the team since 2020.
In his five years with Syracuse, Pena’s production has been extremely limited, appearing in just 40 games while accumulating 109 receptions, 1,212 yards and 10 touchdowns.
However, almost all of those numbers came in a breakout season for the Orange in 2024, where he wound up hitting career highs in receptions (84), yards (941) and touchdowns (nine).
Whatever team does land him, though, won’t be able to enjoy his services for very long because he has just one more year of eligibility remaining at the collegiate level.

Coming out of high school in 2020, Pena wasn’t very highly rated, with On3 industry rankings placing him as a three-star recruit, the No. 49 wide receiver and the No. 1,318 player in the nation.

Some other big names to leave Syracuse from the portal include three-star defensive lineman Michael Nwokocha (Texas State), three-star cornerback Marcellus Barnes (SMU) and three-star quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson (Marshall).
